“The fact we’re still a band this far into it… when we started we had no idea we’d be doing this forever, like opening for some of the bands and playing in some of the bigger rooms that we play,” stated guitarist Mike Sullivan. “It’s still a trip to us. It isn’t lost on us that we’re in the game still for being a loud, aggressive instrumental, repetitive rock band. That is mind blowing to us that we’re still around.”
Regardless of Russian Circles simply releasing their first new album in three years Gnosis in late 2022, Sullivan stated in an interview with New Noise Journal that the band has some leftover materials from the classes they’re planning on crafting into a brand new EP.
“It feels good to lastly have it out as a result of it was recorded so way back. Once we handed within the document, we realized—with the vinyl delays, you needed to request X quantity of information to be launched on X date, and we requested a single LP, and after we turned within the document, we had sufficient materials for 2 LPs, not even realizing that we had written that a lot, or that it was that a lot over the requirement for only a single LP.
“So we’re sitting on a lot of songs that had been meant to be on the document. It is humorous; it might be a very completely different document if we had been to swap out among the songs. So there may be discuss of doing a further EP tethered to—sort of a companion piece to Gnosis. However I feel we’ll contact up among the songs and possibly embody one other one or two, and there is another concepts.
“We don’t want to make another full-on release, like, ‘This is where we’re going; this is the direction,’ because that’s not the case at all. We’re just thinking about being careful of how to display the music. I think ultimately that will see the light of day hopefully in the next year or so. This isn’t locked in stone, but hopefully that EP will come out soon.”
